Join us for our 1st ever get together to help cook and pack food for the poor (25 Aug 2013, Singapore)
.
.
Join us for our 1st ever Dr Pillai (Baba) community get-together to cook and pack food for the poor, hungry & aged – no prior experience needed!
.
Namaste everyone,
If you happen to be in Singapore this Sunday (25 August 2013), you are lovingly invited to join us for our 1st ever Dr Pillai (Baba) community get together to feed the less fortunate in Singapore.
As Baba teaches, an act of compassion towards those less fortunate than you is the quickest way to earning the grace of Divine.
We will be going to Willing Hearts, a very great soup-kitchen that prepares and delivers around 5,000 meals a day to the poor, aged and handicapped.
Willing Hearts is a registered charity and is staffed by volunteers who help cook the food, pack it and deliver it to the less fortunate. No cooking knowledge or experience is need – all you need is love and a desire to help the less privileged.
.
My goal is that we will visit Willing Hearts together as a community and help prepare the meals (ie. cutting vegetables, cooking the food, packing the food) for distribution.
Willing Hearts welcomes everyone to come and help, whether it is to cook food (no experience needed, especially if you don’t know how to cook!), pack the food into food boxes for distribution and also to distribute them.
Prior to this Sunday, we will use donations we raised from our generous community members (about S$800) to buy raw food supplies (such as rice, vegetables, beancurd) from a wholesale center and have these food supplies sent to Willing Hearts as a contribution from Baba’s Asia community towards Baba’s “Million Meals of HoPE” project.

How did our 25 August 2013 Get-Together Come About?
.
Last Friday, a community members phoned me and said she wanted to make a donation to Dr Pillai (Baba)’s “Million Meals of HoPE” project which Tripura Foundation launched in July 2013. She said that wanted to express her gratitude to Baba because she had benefited tremendously from His teachings and that’s why wanted to donate S$500 towards the “Million Meals of HoPE” project.
This was such a heartwarming feel-good gesture that inspired me to organise another feeding event as soon as possible and through kindness from our attendees, we raised a further S$300 from our SHREEM BRZEE chanting session last Saturday.
At the same time, I thought it would be a very wonderful opportunity for our Dr Pillai (Baba) Asia community to get together.
Baba’s “Million Meals of HoPE” project is a global campaign which aims to give out 1 million meals to the poor, the hungry, the handicapped and the aged throughout the world.
The “Million Meals of HoPE” has got off to a roaring start, with Tripura Foundation serving over 25,000 meals worldwide.
Through funds from Tripura Foundation and the generous donations from our SHREEM BRZEE session in July 2013, we contributed to approximately 3,000 meals to feed poor, the hungry, the handicapped and the aged in Singapore by buying food supplies at the wholesale center and delivering them to two soup kitchens in Singapore – Willing Hearts and the Singapore Buddhist Lodge – where they were cooked and distributed.

Just before Guru Purnima 2013, April, Chay & I had gone down to the wholesale center to buy the food supplies in time for the launch of the “Million Meals of HoPE” project and if you’ve not seen it already, here is a video of this trip!
