Namaste everyone,

As part of Dr Pillai (Baba)’s Million Meals of HoPE Project, we visited Willing Hearts (a registered charity in Singapore) on 25 August 2013 for our 1st ever Dr Pillai (Baba) community get together to feed the less fortunate in Singapore.
.
We had also earlier bought food supplies for Willing Hearts with generous donations from our community members.
.
I didn’t expect a simple act of cutting and preparing vegetables could have been such a emotionally uplifting yet a spiritually fulfilling one.
.
We came together to make a difference in some peoples’ lives but at the same time, the entire experience was a divine one for us- while we peeled potatoes and chopped vegetables, we all silently chanted ARUT PERUM JYOTI, the sacred mantra for the LIGHT BODY.

Volunteers hard at work – chopping vegetables and doing some frying
.
Not only did this bless the food that we were preparing, but doing so allowed us to experience the grace of ARUL (the Light of the Divine) in our heart and soul.

.
We had such a beautiful time on 25 Aug 2013 that I’ve decided to organise our 2nd community get together on 22 September 2013.
.
Once again, we will be going to Willing Hearts, a soup-kitchen that prepares and delivers around 5,000 meals a day to the poor, aged and handicapped.
.
Willing Hearts is staffed by volunteers who help cook the food, pack it and deliver it to the less fortunate. No cooking knowledge or experience is need – all you need is love and a desire to help the less privileged.
.
My goal remains that we will visit Willing Hearts  as a community and help prepare the meals (ie. cutting vegetables, cooking the food, packing the food) for distribution.
.
To learn more about what we did at Willing Hearts, please watch the video below:

 ..
Prior to this Sunday (22 September 2013), we will use donations we raised from our generous community members  to buy raw food supplies (such as rice, vegetables, beancurd) from a wholesale center and have these food supplies delivered to Willing Hearts as a contribution from Baba’s Asia community towards Baba’s “Million Meals of HoPE” project.
.
If you would like to join in and contribute any amount to buying raw food supplies for Willing Hearts, please get in touch with me by this Thursday (19 September 2013).
.
Our community member Chay will be going down to the wholesale center this Friday to order the raw food supplies to be sent to Willing Hearts this weekend.

About Baba’s Million Meals of HoPE Project

Baba’s “Million Meals of HoPE” project is a global campaign which aims to give out 1 million meals to the poor, the hungry, the handicapped and the aged throughout the world. The “Million Meals of HoPE” has got off to a roaring start, with Tripura Foundation serving over 25,000 meals worldwide in July 2013.

Through funds from Tripura Foundation and the generous donations  from our SHREEM BRZEE session in July 2013, we contributed to approximately 3,000 meals to feed poor, the hungry, the handicapped and the aged in Singapore  by buying food supplies at the wholesale center and delivering them to two soup kitchens in Singapore – Willing Hearts and the Singapore Buddhist Lodge – where they were cooked and distribute.

For our August 2013 visit to Willing Hearts , we were able to feed a further 3000 meals to the less privileged.

.

.

Look forward to seeing you this Sunday!

.

With love

Vijay
